Talladega, Alabama — The Talladega Police Department is actively investigating the homicide
of 18 year old Jy’Kavien Wright of Talladega.

A $2,000 reward is offered for information leading to a suspect and arrest.
CrimeStoppers 215STOP is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the
identification and arrest of the person or persons responsible for this crime.
Councilman Steve Dickerson of Ward 1 is adding $1,000 of his personal money, bringing
the total reward to $2,000. Dickerson said the murder occurred in his ward and that he wants to
help locate those responsible while encouraging other citizens and council members to get
involved.

Police say on May 31, 2026,at approximately 2:24 a.m., officers responded to a residence in
the 600 block of McAlpine Street in reference to a gunshot victim. On the scene officers located
Wright lying on the sidewalk suffering from a single gunshot wound to the head. Wright was
pronounced dead at the scene. Wright’s death comes just two weeks after he received his high
school diploma from Talladega High School.
