Sylacauga, AL –The Sylacauga Police Department is currently investigating a double shooting
that resulted in the death of a 17-year-old. The victim has been identified as 17 year old
D’Marcus Riggins. Riggins was a student at B.B. Comer High School.
Police say on Friday night, August 8, 2025, at approximately 10:30 PM, officers responded to
reports of two people being shot in the Crestline Avenue area near Drew Court. Upon arrival,
officers found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
Life-saving measures were immediately performed on one victim, while the other was found to
have non-life-threatening injuries. Both were transported to Coosa Valley Emergency Room,
where Riggins passed away from his injuries. The second victim was later transferred to UAB
Hospital in Birmingham for treatment and has since been released.
We are urging anyone with information about this incident or the person(s) responsible to come
