CLAYTON POLICE SEEK PUBLIC’S HELP IN FATAL HIT-AND-RUN INVESTIGATION


Clayton, Al. – Police are asking for public assistance in identifying the driver and vehicles involved in a fatal hit-and-run that occurred on September 4, 2024 in Clayton, Alabama.

On September 4, 2024, at approximately 11:37 p.m. officers responded to a call regarding an unresponsive individual found along Highway 51 near Barbour County Primary School in Clayton, Al upon arrival, first responders attempted life-saving measures, but the victim- identified as Elijah Russaw- was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigation findings indicate that Russaw’s injuries were consistent with being struck by a vehicle. Evidence recovered at the scene suggests the collision may have been a hit-and-run incident.

This case remains under investigation, and law officials are urging anyone with information regarding
the driver, the suspect vehicle, or any other detail related to the tragedy to come forward. Any information that leads to an arrest will be eligible for a cash reward.
