Clayton Police Seek Information in Fatal 2025 Shooting of Barbour County High Student


Clayton, Ala. – The Clayton Police Department is asking for the public’s help in gathering information related to the murder of Raquarius Dashawn Russaw, a student at Barbour County High School.

Police say on February 28, 2025, Russaw was fatally shot in an alleged drive-by shooting near the intersection of Highway 51 and Highway 239 in Clayton. Investigators report that Russaw and a friend were walking in the area when a dark-colored vehicle — possibly a black truck —drove by and fired multiple rounds, striking Russaw.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the shooting, the vehicle involved, or those responsible to come forward. CrimeStoppers 215-STOP is offering a $2500 reward for information that leads to a suspect and arrest in this case.
